FREEBIE! Now I know my ABC's!

ABCDEFG....
Now I know my ABC's....

I LOVE this graphic organizer!
I use it it with my kids all the time.

It's perfect across the curriculum and with any unit/topic and can be used in ANY grade level
{even with adults}

I use it at a beginning of a new topic or novel and write the topic/theme/idea on the line.

I ask students to brainstorm and word they associate with the topic and list them alphabetically.
We then share the list with each other. This activity is great for activating prior knowledge & schema,
as well as reviewing at the end of a unit.
It can also be used as an authentic assessment piece that you can collect from students as a final product.

We hold on to our organizers and continue to add information to it as we proceed with the unit.
The students keep it out so they can add any terms we learn that they feel are useful.

At the end of the unit/novel/lesson they review the terms they came up with their partners and write a paragraph or two on the back the graphic organizer summarizing what they've learned.

This graphic organizer is also the perfect opportunity for differentiating instruction!!
Us it as a cooperative group learning activity.
Students can get up and out of their seat and walk around the room to collect answers and ideas from their classmates for each letter of the alphabet. Partners can sign off on they idea they gave.

I've also used this graphic organizer as a test review. Passing one out to each student or group, and asking them to write down everything they learned from the unit alphabetically and review it with one another.

You can use it to compare & contrast characters
{use different color pencils for each character and write them on the same form
to see their similarities & differences}

You can use it for descriptive writing, science observation, social studies event in one's life, vocabulary review, review of your school's rules or classroom procedures, character education {brainstorm a list of proper behaviors or characteristics in different situations}, and many other ides.

I'd love to hear how you plan on using this freebie. Please leave me some comment love with your ideas.

If you download it, please take a moment to rate it and leave me feedback.
