Happy Hunger Games!

Here are some snap shots from this past week :)

We are also working on figurative language {more on that later on this week with pics & tips}

Secret Door Foldable & Tutorial

We created a secret door foldable that I found a tutorial for on youtube.
The original is by Mr. Dan Jones and he has lots of other great foldable tutorials on his sit.
Stop by his site Ideas For Teacher and check him out!

However, I needed it work with plain copy paper and to be simple to assemble {I'm low maintenance}.
{the tutorial asked for larger size paper and required measurement}

Here is a video tutorial I taped to help you make this easy, fun, and fabulous foldable.
My kids absolutely LOVED it and it can be used with ANY novel ANY grade level.
You can also incorporate the concept into Social Studies & Science.

Speaking of the Hunger Games... the kids & I are obsessed!!!

Check out the little area we designated in the hall for our Hunger Games projects and movie posters!

Yesterday the movie cast was at a local mall signing posters and giving out freebies!
A few of my kiddos went and brought me back movie posters, bookmarks, and a lanyard!!!

EVEN MORE exciting... one of my 8th graders was interviewed for the newspaper and mention me!!!
 {check page 2}

The kids are working on Hunger Games movie posters over the break :)
I will be raffling Hunger Games goodies from Hot Topic to the top 3 winners!

Here are some of the fantastic Hunger Games projects they did in my class last month!

More Hunger Games fun coming after Spring Break!

I'd love to hear from you if you plan on using this fun foldable!
Share with me how you're going to use it in your classroom!

  19. I am so glad to see that the Secret Door Foldable has worked out so well for you. I know that my students have always enjoyed it. I enjoyed seeing how it was used for The Hunger Games. Just a side note, if you would, please let other teachers know where you got it from. In no way do I mind you sharing the foldable with others, but we can support each other. I enjoyed looking through your foldables, and I will certainly point others here for inspiration.
