Back to School!

I hope you forgive me..... I've been totally MIA.
Had so much going on both at work & in my personal life that I'm having a tough time keeping up.

I'm now officially back to school & my last semester of Grad school.
....... and have a little bun in oven due March!

I think I've been in denial for the past few weeks :)
I kept hoping Summer will last forever!!!!!!!!!!
But clearly its not going to :( and then I went into panic mode to get things organized and together for the first week of school & open house.

Here are my back to school goodie bags for the kiddos.
(you can download the tag for free here)

these are the goodies

and here is the final bags :)

I also made parents magnets to take home :)
They each got one on open house so they can put it on the fridge and have all the info the need on hand
My fabulous friend, Summyr over at The Teachaholic
created the template for me.  I then printed out the template on card stock (also courtesy of her) and glues over these Bussiness Card Magnets from Office Depot ($8)

These were a HUGE hit!! Parents LOVED them!!!

Here is a fun little treasure I found at Target :)
These are seat covers for the Star Student of the Week.
Can't beat that for a $1
It has stars and matched my theme perfectly!

Here is a little tour of my Hollywood themed classroom

My before pictures... pretty much a blank canvas as you can see...

Here are my AFTER picture :)

My library (LOVE) in the back of the room

My Guided Reading area in the back of the room

 My two main bulletin boards!!
I love the way the borders turned out :) Thanks for the inspiration & idea Steph!!!

&

My Behavior Board
A combo of clip chart, CHAMPS, and SLANT (from Teach like a Champion)

Teacher Desk Area (by the only window in the room)

My Literacy Centers

The entrance to the classroom :)
I laminated the red carpet to the floor with duct tape.

This is what waited for each kid on their desk on the first day of school.
A goodie bag from me & a note from their parents (from the open house visit)

Here are my CUTE kids wearing our Hollywood props :)
I will use these pics for our Student of the Week posters.

Here are some of my first week back to school activities for the kiddos

Friendship Fun Dice                   Jen Runde's Back to School Cootie Catchers.

Here are first week back to school pics of my kids completing some of the activities above.

Lastly, since its been FOREVER since I last posted

Here are some pictures from BlogHer '12!!!!
I had such a wonderful time considering how yucky I felt that week
(sorry I wasn't my usual perky self :( )

The event was wonderful but the most exciting part was to meet my fabulous fellow bloggers.

Here are Charity, Tamara, Leslie, and I :)

They are the SWEETEST people on earth!!!!!
I wish I could get together with them every weekend!!!! I LOVED meeting them.

Leslie & I                            Leslie, Tamara, and I

(sorry VERY bad pics of me :( you can see how bloated & yucky I look)

Here's one of the Lorax & I

We met Martha Stewart

& Katie Courick

Here's a group picture of us all :) Teaching Blog Addicts

I totally missed meeting Hadar :(

This week we are working on setting up our Interactive Notebooks in all subjects & have lots of beginning of the year pre-tests to complete. I promise to post pics later this week.

Schools will be closed tomorrow in South Florida thanks to Hurricane Isaac :)
So its another day for me to play catch up!!!!!

Happy Back to School All!!!!
I hope you have a WONDERFUL school year!

  2. Your room looks amazing and the pics of the kids in Hollywood gear are so cute. When I first started teaching, I had a "Wall of Fame". Kinda like the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. Each kid had a star with their name on it and then they put their hand print on the wall near their star. I took a pic of each kiddo as they did it. Just an idea for your Hollywood theme.

Congrats on the pregnancy. How exciting for you. :). Good luck this year.

    1. Thanks Antoinette, I love that idea. I was planning on doing something like that and place their stars in the hallways outside of our classroom (since I ran out of space inside).

After following your blog all last year, these kids look SO SMALL! I hope you are enjoying the switch to fifth grade.
Love the Hollywood theme--maybe that's because you are such a star to me...
I hope the "feeling yucky" phase passes quickly and you can soon feel well enough to enjoy things more.
